A graduate set off an explosion in an Orthodox gymnasium at a monastery in Serpukhov

In the Orthodox classical gymnasium in the name of the Monk Varlaam of Serpukhov at the Vvedensky Vladychny convent in Serpukhov, an explosion occurred, several teenagers were injured. The bomb, according to the authorities, was blown up by an 18-year-old graduate of an Orthodox gymnasium, the BBC writes.

“Today at 08:24 am, an 18-year-old graduate of this educational institution entered the premises of the Orthodox gymnasium next to the Vvedensky Vladychny nunnery in Serpukhov and blew himself up,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Moscow region reported.

The attacker himself and another 15-year-old teenager were injured. The police said that the staff and students of the gymnasium were evacuated. 18-year-old Vladislav S. is in serious condition, said the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Moscow Region (MO). The department added that the ministry’s hospitals are eight victims. A young man has a traumatic amputation of the lower leg. While he was conscious, he managed to tell investigators that he had been preparing for the attack for three months. Presumably, he could have an accomplice who helped prepare the explosive device.

According to a media source, the former high school student was planning an attack during morning prayers, but an improvised explosive device detonated at the entrance.

The parents of the young man said that recently their son was seen by a psychologist and drank antidepressants.
