The UOC-KP supporters told how the “council” was held on December 15, 2018

The granting of the Tomos to Ukraine on January 6, 2019 did not mean the complete independence of the UOC-KP and the UAOC, but only the abolition of their management and veiled subordination to the structures of Constantinople. This is described on the page “For the Ukrainian Church“, which is close to “patriarch” Filaret.

The report notes that Filaret was forbidden to lead the cathedral and even call himself with this title, to wear the patriarchal cockle on his head.

“Knowing the nature of the lord for many years, people realized that he agreed to this humiliation under pressure, which is called twisting of hands and any promises of good to the Church. We thought that they would read the text of the tomos translated into Ukrainian at “the council”. Nothing like this! The tomos was praised to the top of the dome of St. Sophia Cathedral, but not a word about its content. The meeting, which was de facto chaired by the envoy from Istanbul, Metropolitan Emmanuel and the then President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, was called unifying, although it would be correct to say – “connecting” to the multi-million UOC-KP of Patriarch Filaret Denisenko, for a miniature UAOC and only two bishops of Moscow from the UOC.

… Filaret was not even given a word at the “council” (the Istanbul envoy, Emmanuel, threatened that all Greeks would immediately leave the meeting, go to the Borispol airport and fly to Istanbul if Filaret presided over the council and insisted that the tomos be handed over to him as the actual head of the Church, and Emmanuel sat in the presidium with his back to Filaret, all the time talking in English with Poroshenko,” the authors of the page write.
