Belarus to celebrate the 1030th anniversary of Orthodoxy in 2022

On November 23, 2021, the Minsk Diocesan Administration hosted a meeting of the Organizing Committee on preparations for the celebration of the 1030th anniversary of Orthodoxy in the Belarusian lands, which will be celebrated in 2022, the website of the Belarusian Orthodox Church reports.

The meeting, chaired by the Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslavl Benjamin, was attended by: Archbishop Dimitri of Vitebsk and Orsha, rector of the Vitebsk Theological Academy; Archbishop of Pinsk and Luninets Stefan; Archbishop Theodosius (Bilchenko); Bishop Ignatius of Polotsk and Glubokoe; Bishop Ambrose of Svetlogorsk, Chairman of the Synodal Commission for the Canonization of Saints of the Belarusian Orthodox Church; Archpriest Alexander Romanchuk, Chairman of the Synodal Historical Commission of the Belarusian Orthodox Church, Deputy Chairman of the Organizing Committee; heads of synodal departments, heads of spiritual and secular higher educational institutions, representatives of church and secular science.

The participants considered the draft program for celebrating the 1030th anniversary of Orthodoxy in the Belarusian lands, which, after revision, taking into account the proposals made, will be submitted for approval to the next meeting of the Synod of the Belarusian Exarchate of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The country will host solemn services, religious processions, conferences, exhibitions, interactive excursions, creative evenings, youth gatherings and other events.
