The Russian Orthodox Church supported the decision of the UN Committee on the Ukrainian church situation

The Russian Orthodox Church reacted positively to the decision of the UN Human Rights Committee regarding the persecution and intimidation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. This was announced by the chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Hilarion (Alfeyev) of Volokolamsk in an interview with RIA Novosti, writes Osnmedia.ru.

“The Russian Church welcomes the fact that the UN Human Rights Committee made such a substantive decision on the situation with the persecution of believers of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church. I hope that this verdict will also be paid attention to in Constantinople, ”said Metropolitan Hilarion.

This decision was made on November 11. The UN Committee expressed concern over the situation with regard to the UOC, which was recently transformed into the Orthodox Church of Ukraine (OCU). They also noted the inaction of the police and the lack of results of the investigation, which was supposed to be carried out by the state.
