The head of the DECR UOC led divine services at Italian Orthodox parishes in Italy

On November 6, 2021, the head of the Department for External Church Relations of the UOC, Metropolitan Melety of Chernivtsi and Bukovyna, visited the parish in honor of the Holy Great Martyr George the Victorious in the city of Genoa (Italy), which is predominantly Ukrainian citizens (mostly Bukovyns) and led the funeral service.

This was reported on the Facebook page of the Chernivtsi-Bukovina diocese.

Metropolitan Melety is accompanied by the secretary of the Chernivtsi-Bukovina diocese, Archimandrite Nikita, Deacon Dimitry Shcherban, and Subdeacon Marian Cherney. The hierarch was co-served by the rector of the church, priest Mario Selvini and priest John Malysh.

At the service, Ukrainians, Russians, Romanians, Moldovans, Georgians and Serbs prayed.

On November 7, Metropolitan Melety presided over a divine service at an Orthodox parish in the Italian commune of Forte dei Marmi. The bishop was co-served by the rector of the parish, priest John Malysh, secretary of the Chernivtsi-Bukovina diocese, Archimandrite Nikita, and deacon Dimitri Shcherban.
