UOC asks for help in restoring the Transfiguration of the Savior Mezhyhirsky Monastery

In the Kiev region, the restoration of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky Mezhyhirsky Monastery continues – an outstanding cultural, spiritual and historical monument of the Ukrainian people and Cossacks, writes Politeka.

At the moment, the brethren need financial assistance to continue construction work.

“We ask you, brothers and sisters, clergy and all caring people, to help with donations for the revival of the ancient Mezhyhir monastery! Food is also needed, ”said Archimandrite Nikon (Rusin), the governor of the Mezhigorsk monastery.

In the Mezhyhirskoy monastery, they receive notes about health and repose, commemoration for the Liturgy, sorokusti, prayer services for the ancient Trebnik of Peter the Mohyla, funeral services – requiem, lithium, parastasi.

In medieval chronicles, Mezhyhirsky Monastery was called the “Southern Lavra”.

During the heyday of the Zaporizhzhya Sich, the monastery became the main shrine of the Cossacks.

It was from this monastery that monks and priests came to serve in the Zaporozhye Sich. Outstanding Cossacks are buried here: Cossack ataman Semyon Paliy, hetman Ostap Gogol, the ancestor of the writer Nikolai Gogol.

Several times the monastery was destroyed and plundered, but each time it was revived to a prayer life.
