On November 3, 2021, Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople underwent stenting in the Mount Sinai hospital in the USA. He is expected to be discharged today, according to the American Archdiocese of Phanar.
Earlier it was reported that the patriarch, who was on a visit to the United States, was admitted to the hospital for vascular diagnostics. After the angiogram of the vessels, it was decided to perform stenting.
Patriarch Bartholomew was already admitted to a hospital in Washington on October 24. The next day of his visit to the United States, before leaving for the Service at Hagia Sophia, he became ill.
It was claimed that the state of health worsened due to the long flight to the United States and the busy schedule. Therefore, the doctors advised Bartholomew to rest. The patriarch was supposed to stay on a visit to the United States until November 3, but now it depends on his health and the decision of the doctors.
