Monument to John Paul II to be opened in Kharkiv

On October 23, 2021, in Kharkiv, on the territory of the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the grand opening and consecration of the monument to Pope John Paul II will take place. This is reported in the Kharkiv-Zaporizhzhya diocese of the Roman Catholic Church.

The monument will be opened by the ordinary of the Kharkiv-Zaporozhzhya diocese, Bishop Pavel Goncharuk, with the participation of the notorious assistant bishop Jan Sobilo and numerous clergy. The solemn event will be attended by representatives of the clergy of various Christian denominations, the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in Kharkiv, the Kharkiv City Council and the regional state administration.

The opening of the monument will take place on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the pastoral visit of John Paul II to Ukraine and the 30th anniversary of the restoration of the structures of the Roman Catholic Church in Ukraine.
