On October 10, 2021, the German religious scholar and sociologist Nikolai Mitrokhin (Bremen) attended morning services in the churches of Alexandria, Kirovograd region. He said, the structures of the OCU in this part of the region are hardly noticeable.

“7 churches of the UOC (6 of the Alexandria diocese and one “stauropegic” of the neighboring Kirovograd diocese), out of 11 parishes listed on the official registration list of the city council (some in suburban villages, two of them were visited the same day later). This way, we toured all the churches that actually exist on the main territory of the city.

To those we added two churches of alternative Orthodoxy – one is the OCU, the second is the UAOC subordinate to Constantinople (but not the OCU – as was specially emphasized by the hostess of the institution) out of 4 parishes on the list.

The total score is 320 parishioners of the UOC against 16 “alternative members” of the OCU (6), the UAOC (10). Those. there are at least 20 times more parishioners of the UOC in this town in the very center of Ukraine, than representatives of alternative Orthodoxy! In the suburbs and in the countryside, the difference is even greater. The structures of the OCU in this part of the region are hardly noticeable,” the German religious scholar writes on Facebook.
