There is no need for Greek Catholics, who are a minority in Ukraine, to pass off as the entire Ukrainian people. This is my comment to those in the President’s Office who writes news to the website and who writes texts to the President for such meetings. Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich, deputy head of the Information and Education Department of the UOC, wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
“During the meeting, Volodymyr Zelenskyy separately dwelled on the issue of the beatification of Metropolitan Andriy Sheptytsky, for which the Ukrainian people are so waiting,” the website says.
“… for which the Ukrainian Greek Catholics are so waiting,” – this could be written and it would be correct.
After all, Sheptytsky is an activist of the UGCC, he is an authority for them. Greek Catholics are waiting for beatification. Please, I don’t mind. But not all of the Ukrainian people. The Orthodox, who are in the majority in our country, do not expect this beatification. Just like Protestants, Muslims, Jews and citizens of Ukraine, other confessions are also not expected.
Therefore, it is important that the Office of the President takes this into account and gives the information correctly, ”the clergyman writes.
