Former deputy mayor of Shepetovka Yuri Vakhotskiy said that the tragedy in Babi Yar for the Jews is “God’s punishment for the Ukrainian Holodomor”, which was “incomplete.” The opinion of the former official from the Khmelnytsky region was supported by the OCU cleric Savradim. The director of the Ukrainian Jewish Committee, Eduard Dolinsky, announced this on Facebook.
“Former deputy mayor of Shepetovka, Yuri Vakhotsky, regrets that the Jews were not completely destroyed: “Babi Yar was God’s punishment for the Holodomor. Рunishment, which was 8 years late and was incomplete.” The OCU cleric Father Savradim (Pavel Pantilei) echoes him “It is a great sin for the Jewish people, but they still have not repented.” “For some reason, we respect and sympathize with the Jews for Babi Yar, but they do not recognize our Holodomor. Maybe because it was done by the hands of the Jewish leadership?”
According to various estimates, in Babi Yar in the period from 1941 to 1943, from 70,000 to 200,000 people were shot by fashists, and the entire population of Kiev before the start of the war was about 900,000.
