The Serbian Orthodox Church, along with some other local churches, is currently under very powerful pressure from the United States, which has set out to split world Orthodoxy. This was stated by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, writes Regnum.
According to Lavrov, Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, who tried to split the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, plays an extremely harmful role in this.
“Such attempts are now being observed both in relation to Belarus and in relation to the Mediterranean countries, in particular Syria, Lebanon, and the Balkans, where the Serbian Orthodox Church is undergoing very powerful attacks,” Lavrov said.
Let us remind you that the Serbian Orthodox Church is facing an attempted schism in North Macedonia and Montenegro. The authorities of these countries have already turned to Patriarch Bartholomew with a request to grant autocephaly to the so-called Montenegrin and Macedonian Orthodox churches.
