Elected Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and the Littoral celebrated the Liturgy at the Cetinje Monastery on 22 August 2021, informs orthodoxtimes.
On that occasion, he referred to the current events in Montenegro on the occasion of his upcoming enthronement in Cetinje:
“I invite you all to the transfiguration to which the Feast of the Transfiguration itself invites us, let us be reborn, to be filled with God’s grace and light, God’s love, justice, and goodness.
Man has that inner urge to create, but very often he has the inner urge to destroy, to ruin and make meaningless, to sink into meaninglessness. Unfortunately, we have that at any time.
Here, today in Cetinje, as they say, there will be a large group of those who oppose that the occupier called Metropolitan Joanikije Micovic to come to Cetinje, to be enthroned. And they clearly say that they do not recognize me as their metropolitan and that they want to expel me from here.”
