The leader of the UGCC considers the panagia presented to him with the signature of the Patriarch of Constantinople to be a symbolic sign of the attention of the mother church to her daughter, writes the UOJ.
The head of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, Svyatoslav Shevchuk, called the gift received from the hands of Patriarch Bartholomew a sign of recognition of episcopal dignity for the entire episcopate of the UGCC.
“For me, this is a symbolic sign that the mother church is attentive to her daughter, and we, as a daughter church, respect the mother church,” Shevchuk said.
