Looking at the unprecedented precautions that are being taken to ensure the safety of the head of the Phanar during his service at St. Sophia Cathedral in Kiev, it seems that Patriarch Bartholomew is arriving not in Ukraine, but in Afghanistan. Where until recently it was possible to feel relatively calm only at western military bases.
It is into such a bunker that Hagia Sophia is now being turned. Not only will identity documents be required for a pass to a service with the participation of a Turkish citizen, but the OCU flock was also forbidden to bring water, food and posters to the territory of the temple.
From the outside, it looks like a manifestation of a feeling of fear in the guest. Judging by the steps taken, the eyes of this fear are truly large (and suddenly a rotten apple will fly into the “first without equal”, and suddenly they will pour water over them, and suddenly something offensive is written on the poster, etc.).
But this attitude says only one thing – all the Phanariots ‘talks about Ukrainians’ support for the church adventure of Constantinople are groundless.
Moreover, the Greeks are well aware of the true state of affairs and are afraid of the “warm welcome” of their spiritual leader. Those same “Filaretites” can arrange a “merry life” for Patriarch Bartholomew. To take revenge, so to speak, for “low-quality autocephaly”.
Therefore, the Istanbul patriarch goes to Kiev with great apprehension. Hoping not for “huge support”, which is trumpeted by commissioned sociological research, but for the efforts of the authorities, which will be able to provide him with an informational and public “warm bath”. And also protection from Ukrainians who love Phanar.
Against this background, the picture on the OCU website with the inscription “Ukraine welcomes the Ecumenical Patriarch” looks more mocking than ever.
