Today, the integrity of the world Orthodox family is being seriously damaged due to the division caused by anti-canonical actions aimed at legalizing the schism in Ukraine. This is stated in the greeting sent by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to the participants of the XXVIII Annual General Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy.
“The Ukrainian Orthodox Church is still being discriminated against, its churches are still being seized, and they are trying to restrict its rights, including at the legislative level, to the point of forcibly depriving it of its own name. The disunity between the Orthodox due to church events in Ukraine, unfortunately, went beyond its borders, spreading inside some Local Orthodox Churches.
I am deeply convinced that a way out of this crisis is possible only on the basis of a return to the canonical Tradition of the Orthodox Church in the presence of openness to dialogue. Let the experience of cooperation within the framework of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy be in demand in the search for ways to resume it,” wrote the head of the Russian Orthodox Church.
