“What difference does it make who is to blame?”: Ex-deputy discusses how to take the Lavra from the UOC

Former People’s Deputy of Ukraine Igor Lutsenko proposes to use the problem of flooding the underground of the Kiev-Pechersk Lavra of the UOC to evict the monastery, which was voiced by the abbot of the monastery, Metropolitan Pavel. A lively discussion about “what difference does it make who is to blame?” Unfolded on Lutsenko’s Facebook page.

“Now we need to use this colossal news occasion – when we all learned to which the disasters brought our national shrine to the Russian monks – to break the agreement on the transfer of the facilities of the Lower Lavra to the Russian Orthodox Church for free use.

Let me remind you, this was done by Yanukovych, and the next authorities arranged everything, despite my regular screams (addresses) when I was the people’s deputy. We need to act, act very quickly – we urgently need to save the caves, and for this we need to take steps in the legal plane, by the decision of the government to take the caves from the use and possession of the Russian Orthodox Church, allocate funds and carry out rescue work. We may not have a second such gift in these years. If this does not happen, then it turns out that Pavel bought the officials, and now we will still pay the Russian Orthodox Church out of our own pockets. With the highest blessing of Tkachenko, who has not done ANYTHING to save the Lavra from thieves in robes, ”Lutsenko accuses the head of the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.

As one of the subscribers noted in the comments, the problem with flooding arose due to errors in state repair work: “It’s not about the monks. I will be in the Caves in the spring. Repairs were done by the state. And wrong. The caves must “breathe” then condensate and water will not accumulate … Now these are the consequences of thoughtless repairs”.

To this Lutsenko’s associates replied: “It is possible, using the info-drive, to return at least part of the Lavra. What difference does it make who was to blame there?”
