Week summary from Raskolam.net

1) The head of the Vatican received a delegation from the Church of Constantinople

The key events of this week were concentrated around the meeting of the head of the RCC with representatives of Greek Orthodoxy, among which the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Antioch was noticed. The Pope himself called the meeting “an additional impulse towards the elimination of long-standing prejudices and the final overcoming of harmful rivalry.” Other words, the Pontiff confirmed the undisguised actions of Constantinople and its satellites on the way to “unification.” Later, inspired by the meeting, the representatives of the churches decided to take part in a joint mass, during which the Orthodox delegation, although not concelebrating with the pontiff, followed him everywhere.

The experts asked themselves a fair question regarding the presence of the head of the Antioch Patriarchate in this delegation. Pravblog suggested that “the visit is associated with certain events dedicated to peace in the Middle East. June 27 was the Day of Peace in the Middle East. In addition, on July 1, an ecumenical prayer service was to be held in the Vatican, followed by a round table with three working sessions, in which ten primates of the Catholic and Orthodox local Churches of Lebanon will take part.” However, was it all worth it? A rhetorical question. Meanwhile, during meetings in the Vatican, The head of the Phanar delegation, Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon (Adamakis), said that the joint celebration of Easter with Catholics is the immediate goal of the dialogue.

2) The representative of the vicariate of the UOC-KP met with the “hierarch” of the OCU Zinkevich

It is not the first time that information has appeared that the odious head of the Volyn diocese of the OCU Mikhail Zinkevych is looking for himself in a new role, torn between the desire to head the OCU and the opportunity to become at the helm of the UOC KP 2.0 project. Recall that despite the conflict between the OCU and the UOC-KP, Zinkevych is trying to maneuver in this situation, leaving himself the opportunity to retreat to the last of the listed. However, it is worth noting that the UOC-KP project is actually buried and hardly any of the current OCU functionaries will want to join Zinkevych’s adventure with the Kyiv Patriarchate, if such a thing takes place at all. Most likely, Zinkevych’s flirtation with the Filaret`s supporters is associated with the risk of his possible dismissal from his post as head of the Volyn diocese of the OCU. It’s no secret that Volyn is one of the most powerful bastions of the Ukrainian schism, and Zinkevych’s role in the development of this region for the UOC-KP/OCU is difficult to overestimate. Considering this, the Volyn diocese of the OCU is a very tasty morsel for any functionary of this structure, among whom there are more loyal ones than Zinkevych. Therefore, Zinkevych makes it clear to Dumenko that any encroachment on his power in Volyn will be met with stiff resistance, up to the return of this diocese under the control of Filaret.

3) The curator of the autocephalous project under Poroshenko confirmed that Patriarch Bartholomew is a deceiver

A wonderful analysis of certain moments of the recent interview of Rostyslav Pavlenko from colleagues from the Pravblog Telegram channel. “Consciously or through thoughtlessness, he provided yet another proof that the Phanar and Patriarch Bartholomew personally conceived or allowed interference in the Ukrainian church situation long before 2018.

This means that Patriarch Bartholomew for many years deceived the ROC, the UOC and other Local Orthodox Churches, pretending that he was not planning an invasion of Ukraine.

In particular, in 2016 at the Synaxis of the Primates in Chambesy, Patriarch Bartholomew, in the presence of all delegations of the Local Churches, announced that he recognizes Metropolitan Onuphry and the clergy of the UOC as the only canonical bishops in Ukraine.”

4) “It’s funny to hear that Church Slavonic is understandable,” – a former priest of the UOC

We don`t see anything funny anymore. Why? Yes, because they are tired of hearing speculation on this topic from representatives of the OCU, in which many actively use the same Church Slavonic language during their “divine services”. In addition, by the way, not only!

Indeed, in the educational institutions of the OCU, the same Church Slavonic language is completely studied as an integral subject of the curriculum. Just recently, one of the hierarchs of the OCU stated that they have nothing against Church Slavonic in their structure, and the higher echelons of the organization openly offer the transition to the UOC communities under their “wing” with full preservation of liturgical practice, including language.

5) The OCU speaker called the attack of the “patriots” on the procession of the UOC “the Moscow`s provocation”

The speaker of the OCU Yevstratiy Zorya tried to justify himself before the Greek church media for the situation with the attack on the procession in Nizhyn. According to Zorya, the attack by the radicals is “part of the Moscow’s provocation.” After such a comment, there remains one question to address to the “patriotic” organizations. You make regular attacks on the UOC – does your reputation suffer when your customers call you “the hand of Moscow”? Alternatively, is “working off the number” more important than any image loss?
