In the processes of pressure on Orthodox believers in the post-Soviet space and in the Balkans, markers are similar in all cases: the creation of a pseudo-religious organization, the confiscation of property from the Orthodox Church by any means, attacks on believers who remained faithful to traditional Orthodoxy, said Sergei Gavrilov, head of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy, writes “Parliamentary newspaper”.
Gavrilov believes that the creation of the OCU in Ukraine and the constant attacks on the clergy of the UOC, the Montenegrin law on the seizure of property from the Serbian Orthodox Church, the plans to create a Kosovo church represent “different stages of one plan to split society.” “The emergence of signs of penetration into the Orthodox community indicates the beginning of the implementation of this plan,” he said.
“We always warn that the emerging non-canonical churches are political institutions conducive to extremism,” Gavrilov added.
