The solemn ceremony of canonization of the five saints took place at the Intercession Cathedral in Alexandria, Kirovograd region on June 21, 2021, on the Day of the Holy Spirit. The divine service with the rite of glorification was led by His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine, according to Pravlife.
In pursuance of the decisions of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of April 3, 2019 and December 9, 2020, as locally revered saints of the Alexandrian diocese of the UOC, the following are glorified:
– Hieromartyr Vasily Slotvinsky, presbyter (+1919);
– Hieromartyr Theodore Statkevich, presbyter (+1919);
– Hieromartyr Alexander Balanutsa, presbyter (+1919);
– Hieromartyr Jacob Ilyichevsky, presbyter (+1919);
– Blessed Julita Pedan, confessor (+1955).
During the service, the decisions of the Holy Synod of the UOC to establish the veneration of the saints were announced, and their lives were read. His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry blessed the worshipers with icons of saints taken from the altar, and glorifications were sung to the newly glorified saints.
The Primate was co-served by the managing director of the UOC, Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, Metropolitan Ephraim of Krivoy Rog and Nikopol, Metropolitan of Kirovograd and Novomirgorod Ioasaph, Metropolitan Philaret of Novokakhov and Genichesk, Metropolitan of Kremenchug and Lubensky, Archbishop Nikolai Archbishop of Alexandria, Archbishop of Alexandria , Bishop Laurus of Irpen, Bishop Mark of Borodyansk, clergy of the Alexandria diocese and guests in the priesthood.
After the Liturgy, prayers were offered to the newly glorified saints.
