Greeks are culturally shocked by the state funeral of a Nazi

The Greek edition Romfea published an article about how, in the St. Michael’s Cathedral of the OCU in Kiev, they pompously said goodbye to Orest Vaskul, a member of the SS Galicia division, with the comment: “Many journalists wondered if the state would recognize Nazism as an ideology with such a step?”

“The funeral was attended by soldiers of the National Guard, who paid the last tribute to his service in Nazi Germany. Representatives of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine were also present, and as a sign of mourning for the SS man, the coffin was covered with the state flag.

The incident caused a negative reaction from the opposition, which asked why the National Guard soldiers were present at the funeral of the SS man.

Finally, it should be noted that the Ukrainian media expressed strong dissatisfaction, while many journalists wondered if the state would recognize Nazism as an ideology with such a step?” – the website writes.

The publication was commented on by the Eastern Church Telegram channel: “The Greeks are in a cultural shock from the state ideology of Nazism. In the main church of Metropolitan Epiphanius, the SS soldier was escorted with honors.
