Representative of the US Secretary of State visited the Georgian Patriarch

On June 11, 2021, Patriarch of Georgia Ilia II met with Acting Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Philip T. Reeker. The USA Ambassador to Tbilisi Kelly Degnan and other members of the delegation accompanied him, Romfea reports,

The Primate of the Church of Georgia thanked the US Assistant Secretary of State for supporting the territorial integrity of Georgia and spoke about the importance of cooperation between the two countries.

For his part, Reeker conveyed greetings to the Patriarch from President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, also noting the important role played in Georgia by the Orthodox Church and Patriarch Ilia personally, as he also spoke about deepening cooperation between the United States and Georgia.
