Archbishop Feodosy of Cherkassy and Kanev told what to expect from the Patriarchate of Constantinople after Metropolitan of Italy and Exarch of Southern Europe Polycarp (Stavropoulos) named Pope Francis his patriarch and announced the imminent approach of complete unity of Catholics and Orthodox. This was reported by the UOJ.
The UOC hierarch said that in the light of the Uniate statements of the Phanar representative, it may become clear why and for what the Patriarchate of Constantinople cut itself off and its potential satellites from the group of Local Churches, firm in standing for the true faith and canonical truth. “It is not excluded that he did it precisely to achieve this ultimate goal (union, – editor’s note). And the realization of this goal is now much more real than many might think,” said Archbishop Theodosius.
The head of the Cherkasy diocese believes that believing Ukrainians, Russians, Moldovans, Serbs, Romanians, Georgians, Bulgarians, Czechs, etc., belonging to the Ecumenical Orthodox Church, should not panic about this, since Phanar will simply separate itself from the Orthodox Church, while not harming her.
In the opinion of the hierarch of the UOC, it is worth worrying about the representatives of the Hellenic world: Athonite monasticism, Orthodox Greeks from Greece, Cyprus, the Alexandrian Church, the American Greek Diaspora, since it is they who are in the greatest danger that “one morning from the Vatican-Phanar stage “The city and the world (Hellenic in the first place)” can be announced about the “epoch-making unification of Christianity” and their present, the Greeks, communion with the Pope of Rome”.
In this regard, Archbishop Theodosius calls on the Orthodox believers of the Hellenic world, bishops, monastics and laity firm in Truth to urgently defend the Church: “It is necessary to quickly and conciliarly neutralize the spiritual abscess that is poisoning the Orthodox world with its infection. It is necessary to restore the canonical truth in the family of Local Orthodox Churches and take all measures so that this will never happen again in the future. ”
The UOC hierarch believes that if this is not done now, then the day will not be far off when the remnant of faithful Orthodox Greeks will have to reassemble their Church bit by bit, by individual dioceses, by monasteries, by parishes, in order to protect themselves from the expansion of a new union, blessed Fanar.
