On the fact of the attack on the car of the Metropolitan of Vinnytsia and Barsk Varsonofy, criminal proceedings have been opened. This was reported by Pravlife.
According to the police, the incident took place near the Holy Cross Church in Vinnitsa on June 5, 2021, at about 8 am, when church officials were loading church utensils into a car.
“A man came up to them, grabbed a staff from one of the attendants and started hitting the car with it. The Metropolitan was not near the car, he served in the Zhmeryn community,” Oleinik said.
The attacker was arrested on the same day at about 16:00. During the survey, a Vinnitsa born in 1983, who had no previous convictions, could not explain his actions.
“It turned out that the man was intoxicated,” Oleinik said.
Criminal proceedings have been opened under Part 2. Art. 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (hooliganism). The investigation is ongoing.
