On the morning of June 5, before the beginning of the visiting bishop’s divine service in the village of Oleksandrivka, Zhmerinsky district, in the region of Vinnitsa, near the Holy Cross Church (at 6:00), an unknown man attacked the car of Metropolitan Varsonofiy. The man damaged the church utensils, the bishop’s staff and hit the car. After the completion of the divine service, Metropolitan Varsonofiy wrote a statement to the police. As it turned out later, this most unknown man, on the eve of Friday, visited the Holy Cross Church and asked the rector “why is the Church engaged in politics?” To which father Mykolay replied that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is not involved in politics.

Thanks to the police for the quick response, as well as for ensuring law and order in the village of Oleksandrivka, where the representatives of the OCU agreed on the eve not to let the bishop of the UOC into the village.

We do not give in to provocations and continue to pray.
