The appeal of the League of the Ukrainian Diaspora “For the Kyiv Patriarchate” was published, which recalls the lack of transparency in the financial activities of the former vicariate of the UOC-KP in the United States, and the former leadership is accused of fraud.
“The case has gained publicity and today it would be appropriate to include in its consideration the competent authority IRS for study, not because of internal conflicts between Orthodox organizations in the United States, as some believe. The former representatives of the Vicariate are responsible for the fact that, based on the law, in the course of performing their daily duties, they did not report on a certain financial turnover. We openly accuse specific individuals to defend a church institution in the United States.
Over the 20 years of the existence of the Vicariate of the UOC-KP in the USA and Canada, kind and patriotic donors have used hundreds of thousands of American dollars, which were to be directed to the development of an independent church both in Ukraine and in the diaspora.
After the illegal re-registration of the property of the Kyiv Patriarchate, two persons – Viktor Polyarny and Ivan Jaresko, who was the last to join the Vicariate of the UOC-KP, appropriated all the funds and sacred antimensions of the Vicariate of the UOC Kyiv Patriarchate in the USA and Canada. Not having the blessing of any ruling bishop or bishop of the world, they declared their own “Vicariate” in the USA, including, in addition to Canada, Australia, Latin America and Japan.
Under the guise of a state registration document, they misappropriated funds from the Kyiv Patriarchate, looting all the Patriarchate’s property on our continent. And, secondly, they continue to manipulate the honest name of the Patriarchal Vicariate, fooling bona fide believers who still continue to make donations, not realizing that their trust in these gentlemen is unjustified”.
It is also said that considerable funds were spent on the expenses of the stay in the United States of the representative of the OCU Yevstratiy Zorya. The authors call for “the return of the appropriated by lies property of the Vicariate of the UOC-KP to the United States.”
