The OCU will be “palmed off” to Local Churches on receiving myrrh from the Phanar?

In 2022, 11 out of 15 local churches will receive Holy Myrrh from Constantinople. Its preparation with the participation of 10 other Local Churches is planned to be “supplemented” with representatives of the OCU this time, said Nicholas Gurgenidze, master of canon law. The Spiritual Front of Ukraine reports his point of view.

In his vision, the joint liturgy of the “bishops” of the OCU with the hierarchs of the Churches who depend on the Phanar in this matter will mean recognition for the schismatic organization.

That is, the OCU must recognize seven more churches: Antioch, Jerusalem, Serbian, Bulgarian, Polish, Albanian, Czech Republic and Slovakia. This does not take into account the Alexandrian, Greek and Cypriot Churches, which have already recognized the OCU and will also be at the cooking myrrh.

The following churches receive myrrh from Constantinople: Alexandria (already recognized the OCU), Antioch, Jerusalem, Serbia, Bulgaria, Cyprus (already recognized the OCU), Greece (which has already recognized the OCU), Poland, Albania, Czech Republic and Slovakia, Ukraine; Holy Miro is cooked by the churches of Georgia, Romania and Russia themselves, the theologian says.

According to the typicon of the church, Myrrh is prepared with all the above-mentioned Local Churches. This is performed during the festive joint divine liturgy, during which the Holy Myrrh is blessed. This happens every ten years. The last time this took place in 2012, the theologian explains.

In the next year, 2022, this is to be carried out in the Ecumenical Patriarchate. “As a rule, none of the aforementioned churches refuses to participate, but how, in that case, will they receive the holy Myrrh?” Concludes Nicholas Gurgenidze, master of canon law.
