“We restored it”: Zorya boasted about the captured UOC church in Bilovezhi

On May 23, 2021, the “Archbishop” of the OCU Yevstratiy Zorya “consecrated” the church in honor of Alexander Nevsky in the village Belovezhi of the Nezhinsky district of the Chernihiv region. As previously reported, the temple was raised from the ruins by the UOC, at the same time representatives of the OCU, having waited for the Church to restore the building, declared it their own.

As “Archbishop” Zorya wrote on his Facebook page, now it is stated that the temple was “restored by the OCU.”

“The temple, built more than 160 years ago – for more than 60 years, after being closed by the Bolsheviks, was in desolation and negligence. Thanks to the patrons and the OCU community, headed by Father Volodymyr Pavlyna, the temple was restored. The community also defended him against the attempts of conquest by the supporters of the MP,” writes Zorya.
