Has Poroshenko lost interest in OCU?

Recently, ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko made a substantial donation to the UGCC, financing the construction of a Catholic collegium in Lviv in the amount of $ 100,000, writes Pravblog.

Such attention of Poroshenko to the Greek Catholic Church is not surprising. We can say that this is gratitude for the electoral support of the Galicians (among whom the Uniates dominate) during the last presidential elections, when the Lviv region (the only one in Ukraine) gave him the majority of votes. And the rest of the regions of Galicia gave almost 50% for it.

Thus, this is not so much an investment in education, as Petr Alekseevich himself stated, as an investment in the long-term electoral support of his political force in Western Ukraine.

In addition to the general PR effect, such a step may promise the loyalty of UCU graduates, who in the future may find themselves in the upper echelons of power. Poroshenko himself hinted at this, saying that the UCU, in his opinion, provides quality education “in the management of state and public processes” in Ukraine.

In addition, he probably counts on the channels of communication with the American establishment, which are at the disposal of the Uniates.

Interestingly, Poroshenko is not the only oligarch who finances the UCU (Ukrainian Catholic University). For example, Dmitry Firtash was the largest donor to the construction of the campus of this educational institution.

Such generosity can become the envy of another recipient of the chocolate magnate – “OCU”. The head of which, Epiphany Dumenko, recently announced that the oligarchs allegedly do not help his structure. It is quite possible that this is a veiled complaint about the waning interest on the part of Poroshenko in his own brainchild.

However, Petr Alekseevich is primarily a businessman who probably calculates all the potential benefits of his investments. Perhaps “OCU” for him is no longer such an attractive investment object as it used to be. In general, this underlines the fact that there is no sincere love and religious component in relations between Poroshenko and religious organizations. Only business and the desire for power. No God, faith or morality.
