Administrator of the UOC met Serbian Patriarch Porfirije in Belgrade

On May 19, 2021, with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry of Kyiv and All Ukraine, Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary in Belgrade met His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia. This is reported by vzcz.church.ua.

Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich, Deputy Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the UOC, and Protodeacon Vadim Novinsky, accompanied the Administrator of the UOC. On the Serbian side, the Patriarch’s vicar, Bishop of Remesiana Stephen, and the head of the Patriarch’s cabinet, Deacon Alexander Praščević, attended the meeting.

Metropolitan Anthony, on behalf of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onuphry, conveyed greetings to His Holiness Patriarch Porfirije with the election of the Serbian Chief Hierarchs to the throne and wishes for God’s help in his new ministry. Patriarch Porfirije thanked for the congratulations and the visit and noted that this was his first meeting as a Patriarch with the bishop of another Local Church.

During the meeting, they discussed the current situation in the Orthodox world, the church situation in Ukraine, as well as the development of relations between the Ukrainian and Serbian Orthodox Churches.

The Ukrainian church delegation also visited the Cathedral of St. Sava in Belgrade.
