It is high time to take the “Ukrainian church problem” out of the context of the “confrontation” between the Russian and Constantinople Churches, where the supporters of the actions of Patriarch Bartholomew are trying to place it. Bishop Baryshevsky Victor (Kotsaba), Head of the Representation of the UOC to European International Organizations wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
“The unilateral granting of the Tomos to the OCU is not so much a policy as a canonical and ecclesiological crime, the reasons for which are much deeper than the geopolitical, time plans of those forces that stand on the principles of protecting the interests of the Phanar. And it is significant that it was the Synod of the UOC that initiated the consideration of the theological basis of everything that has happened in recent years.
In this regard, it is necessary to recall the words of the Jerusalem Patriarch Theophilos about the need for a new meeting of the Primates of the Local Churches in Amman to discuss the “Ukrainian question”. We hope that the scientific and theological work carried out in the KDA regarding the actions of Constantinople in Ukraine will become a useful basis for the future of Amman-2,” the hierarch writes.
