Kherson police said they would not allow crowds on Easter and threaten with fines

In Kherson, during a meeting of representatives of the police and religious confessions, the head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Kherson region, Alexander Prokudin, said that during Palm Sunday, Easter and memorial days, the police would not allow crowds of people, Kherson online writes.

“There are big holidays ahead: Palm Sunday, Easter and memorial days. In order to maximally protect the residents of our region from coronavirus, I recommend that the rectors of the temples carry out explanatory work among believers and not arrange mass gatherings inside churches and with them, conduct services with mandatory compliance with quarantine requirements,”  said Prokudin. – And I would recommend to vulnerable groups of the population to participate in worship services through broadcasts and stay at home, not endangering themselves and others. There are enough alternatives to keep the holidays comfortable. Of course, traditions must be respected, but one should not forget about the safety of one’s own and those of others.”

Alexander Prokudin said that during the holidays, police officers will serve near churches. They will not allow crowds of people and will explain to believers that for their safety it is impossible to gather in a crowd. The police will unequivocally react to malicious violations, which can lead to considerable fines.
