Orthodox lawyers demand to call ex-people’s deputy to account for inciting sectarian strife

Recently, on the Facebook social network, on the page of the People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the VII convocation Igor Miroshnichenko, a video appeared in which Igor Miroshnichenko, being near the St. Panteleimon monastery of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, publicly calls on his viewers to the scenario of a tough interfaith confrontation between the believers of the OCU and the UOC, writes UOL in its Telegram-channel.

“UOL believes that such public appeals undoubtedly threaten social interfaith peace and are aimed at deliberately consistently rocking the confrontation, increasing the degree of intransigence, which complicates the conciliatory dialogue of Orthodox believers of various legal subordination. The spread of such appeals among Orthodox believers will most likely result in an exacerbation of interfaith confrontation and incitement of religious enmity.

UOL once again notes that in a European state governed by the rule of law, everyone who has committed a crime must be held criminally liable. We very much hope that the above statements of the People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the VII convocation Igor Miroshnichenko will be duly assessed by the law enforcement agencies, about which relevant statements are already being prepared,” the lawyers write.
