Pilgrims will not be allowed to Athos for Easter

The vice-governor of Athos decided to extend the ban on visiting the Holy Mountain until May 10. As reported by RIA Novosti, this is a ban on all pilgrimage trips to Athos for the entire period of Easter holidays.

The authorities despite the fact that there were fewer patients over the past two weeks made this decision: repeated tests of monks in several monasteries of the Holy Mountain did not reveal any disease in them.

Citizens of Athos – monks, government officials and monastery workers – will be able to return home if tested for coronavirus.
