Metropolitan Anthony: Meeting in Amman is a real opportunity to solve the church problem in Ukraine

UOC Chancellor, Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, commented on the preparations for the second meeting of the Local Orthodox Churches in the capital of Jordan during a press conference at the Holy Dormition Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.

“We saw that the need for dialogue between the Local Orthodox Churches is probably the only possible and real step in order to resolve the Ukrainian issue and, of course, try to restore the unity of the Orthodox world, which is now under threat.

And in the statement of Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem, on the occasion of the anniversary of the Amman meeting, it was said that this is the platform that gives hope for the restoration of the unity that we are gradually beginning to lose.

Of course, now a lot depends on the pandemic that has captured the whole world – it does not allow now to really engage in the preparation of this meeting. But I believe that it is the meeting at the Pan-Orthodox level that will give an opportunity to solve this problem, despite the fact that Phanar is against such a meeting. Because it is clear that, first of all, the question will be raised to Patriarch Bartholomew about his actions,” the hierarch said.
