The mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis, and the mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem İmamoğlu, visited the Constantinople Patriarchate on March 19. Patriarch Bartholomew received the two, informs orthodoxtimes.
After the meeting with the Patriarch on Friday afternoon, Ekrem İmamoğlu and Kostas Bakoyannis will hold a meeting to discuss issues of common interest between the two municipalities and will sign a memorandum of understanding, as reported by skai.gr.
When asked whether he had visited the Phanar, the mayor of Istanbul replied: “I have been there many times.” Kostas Bakoyannis will then be guided to the sights of Constantinople by Ekrem İmamoğlu.
