Constantinople is not the Mother Church for us, – European Deanery of the UOC-KP

“To take everything away without laboring, and therefore is tantamount to stealing” – thus, the European Deanery of the UOC-KP summed up how the phanariots, by creating the OCU, took over Filaret’s structure. “The intentions of this meeting under the chairmanship of the Patriarchate of Constantinople, like the intentions of granting the Tomos itself, were not good. Not to restore historical justice, not to support the Ukrainian people, like brothers and sisters in Christ, all this was done, but rather to divide Ukrainians,” stated on the Deanery’s Facebook page.

“If the conditions of the tomos even allowed the OCU to engage in foreign parishes, then no one here could simply transfer the clergy from the vicariate of the UOC of the Kyiv Patriarchate to the vicariate of the OCU. But, indeed, there is not a single document officially about the OCU Vicariate in the United States. How can you then assert its existence? Who created it and who is its bishop? The Primate of the OCU cannot and is unlikely to be able to issue a document stating that he is engaged in the diaspora, since the restrictions of the tomos do not allow this, but he must comply with them, and there is no canonical explanation for this,” the publication says.

The newly formed religious organization, according to the Kyiv Patriarchate, “turned out, unfortunately, to be nothing more than a political intrigue, which is presented as a single Ukrainian Orthodox Church, but it is not the one.”

“The OCU is an absolutely illegal and non-canonical entity that has no legal rights to claim the succession of the Kyiv Patriarchate or identify itself with it. This is a completely different organization. It is a kind of modern phenomenon and an impressive advance towards creating the illusion of a church “at any cost”. In the same way, the Patriarchate of Constantinople has absolutely no right to consider the territory of Ukraine its canonical territory, and this right is not even granted to it by the abolition of the letter of Patriarch Dionysius in 1686. If once Constantinople was spiritually a “mother church” for Kyiv, then today there are no canonical grounds for this,” the Deanery of Europe summed up.
