This meeting is one more proof of the influence of the geopolitical factor on the religious sphere in Ukraine. A few weeks ago, Volker proposed to the US administration the so-called “road map” for Ukraine. And even earlier, he said that under Biden, Ukraine would expect a “new level of attention.”
Obviously, the “attention” of the Americans will also touch the religious issue. The United States has long made no secret of its support for the Phanar and its actions in Ukraine, even though they caused massive violations of the rights of believers in the UOC. Actually, they simply turn a blind eye to these violations. Actually, they themselves inspire the Ukrainian authorities to further provocations and pressure against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
