To aviod “hype” on the Church, Constitution sould be adhered to in Ukraine, – hierarch of the UOC

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy noted that those people who raise the “question of the Church” want to temporarily “hyip”, and the consequences of this “hype” are aimed at dividing Ukrainian society. The President’s words were commented on in his Telegram channel by the Head of the Representation of the UOC to European international organizations, Bishop Viktor (Kotsaba) of Baryshevsky.

According to the hierarch, “such words of the head of state are a clear message for those politicians who today seek to“ create ”a name for themselves not through social or economic initiatives, but through populism. This also applies to the “church question”. ”

Bishop Victor drew attention to the fact that “such politicians should remember that by initiating anti-church laws and acting as critics of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, they receive not only a temporary” HYIP “, but also concern the religious life of millions of Ukrainian citizens – believers of the UOC”.

Bishop Victor agreed with the words of the head of state that the “hype” on the “question of the Church” divides the society.

“Because those people who demand from the Church to rename, and even more so those who seize our churches by force, persecute and persecute UOC believers, are working against peace and prosperity in Ukraine,” he stressed. “Physical and moral violence, aggressive rhetoric in the media and the political sphere regarding the UOC – all this creates constant tension and levels the peacemaking efforts of both the government itself and its individual representatives.”

At the same time, the hierarch of the UOC noted: “And Orthodox Christians just do not need a “huip”, because they always strive for peace and peace, want to pray and go to churches.”

“The task of the state, in turn, is to satisfy these aspirations and to ensure the observance of religious rights and freedoms, clearly spelled out in the Constitution of Ukraine,” noted the Head of the Representation of the UOC to European international organizations.

He named a way out of the situation: “In order to avoid even a reason for the hype, you just need to adhere to the Constitution of Ukraine. And then peace, tranquility and unity will reign in the state ”.
