The head of the Phanar is guided not by the canons of the Church, but by personal ambitions, – hierarch of the UOC

Analyst of the Macedonian newspaper Vecher Branko Gorgevski is sure that the path to autocephaly of the so-called “Macedonian Orthodox Church”, unrecognized by world Orthodoxy, is open. The words of the Macedonian analyst were commented on in his Telegram channel by the Chairman of the Representation of the UOC to European International Organizations, Bishop Baryshevsky Viktor (Kotsaba).

“The reason for this position was the words of the Patriarch of Serbia Porfiry, who said that the Serbian Church in the “Ukrainian question” is on the side of the canons, and Phanar, having provided the Tomos to the OCU, acted contrary to the Tradition of the Church.

According to Branko Gorgevski, “this harsh attitude towards the Ecumenical Patriarchate, of course, will not be well received in Constantinople,” and they “open the door for the Phanar to independently make a decision regarding the MOC.”

According to him, the Serbian Patriarch should not forget that the Phanar regarding the OCU received the support of the Greek Church, the Cypriot Church and the Alexandrian Patriarchate, which Patriarch Porfiry “also marked as violators of the canons.”

As you can see, secular analysts believe that Patriarch Bartholomew is guided not by the canons of the Church and not by the benefits for the Church, but exclusively by personal ambitions. To our great regret, resentment, a desire for superiority, a feeling of his exclusivity – that’s what really drives him. And it’s hard to disagree with that, ”writes Bishop Victor.
