Kuraev’s provocation – a wedge in the relationship between the ROC and the GOC

In an interview with a Georgian priest, Protodeacon Andrei Kuraev acted as a provocateur, apparently with the goal of driving a wedge into relations between the Russian and Georgian Orthodox Churches. What is his statement that he knows for certain that “from the point of view of Patriarch Kirill, Abkhazia should be ours.” Thus, Kuraev said that Patriarch Kirill, they say, is forced to recognize this region as the canonical territory of the Georgian Church, but in fact, he, they say, has long wanted to get his hands on it.

Not a single piece of evidence, just stuffing. What is it counted for? To provoke another wave of anti-Russian protests in Georgian society? To strengthen the position of a group of Georgian clergy, close to Phanar, advocating the recognition of Ukrainian schismatics (for example, well-known metropolitan Peter (Tsaava), who was banned from serving for slandering Patriarch Ilia II)?

At the same time, Kuraev has completely forgotten his own words, spoken in not so distant 2009. Then he himself suggested that the Georgian Church temporarily transfer Abkhazia and South Ossetia to the Moscow Patriarchate (this was said after 08.08.08).

What has fundamentally changed since then? Nothing, only about himself. Andrei, having turned from an apologist and missionary into a provocateur, ready to push whole nations and Local Churches to enmity for the sake of his personal benefits and the interests of the enemies of the Church.
