The head of the European deanery of the UOC-KP, Volodymyr Chaika, welcomed the decision of the diaspora in the United States and Canada to remain a member of the “Kyiv Patriarchate” subordinated to its head Filaret Denisenko. This was reported on the Facebook page of the deanery.
“Congratulations to Archpriest Father Bohdan Zgoba, rector of St. Nicholas Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with the appointment of the secretary of the Vicariate of the UOC-KP in the USA and Canada, as well as all clergy and believers of the vicariate with the granting of the status of the cathedral of the Church of St. Nicholas. We are glad that our joint mission of trusteeship of Ukrainians abroad is growing stronger and we thank you for your loyalty to the Kyivan Patriarchate,” wrote Volodymyr Chaika.
As the website of the UOC-KP reports, Filaret decided to grant the status of the cathedral of the Church of St. Nicholas in the city of Philadelphia. He removed this status from the Church of St. Andrew the First-Called in Bloomingdale, since the rector of this parish left the UOC-KP and announced joining the OCU despite the terms of the tomos.
