On February 16, 2021, the bishops of the UOC consecrated a church in honor of All Saints in the village of Zavoloka, Storozhynetsky district, Chernivtsi region, built by the persecuted religious community of the UOC instead of the one captured by representatives of the OCU two years ago, the Chernovitsko-Bukovinaska eparchy reports.
The rite of the great consecration of the church in honor of All Saints was headed by Metropolitan Melety of Chernivtsi and Bukovynsk, co-served by Bishop Mark of Borodyansky and the clergy of the diocese.
The UOC church in the village was built in just 15 months after the OCU took over the former church. In 1990, it was also built by the community of the UOC, headed by the abbot, Archimandrite Yuvenaly (Palamaryuk). Now the priest who built both churches is 80 years old.
“When in 2019 the head of the village with his henchmen seized an Orthodox church, it seemed that Orthodoxy had been destroyed in the village. But God blessed, and a strong Orthodox community built a new church. And the enemies of the Orthodox faith remained ashamed.”
