The more the state interferes in the life of the Church, the more problems in society. This was stated by the managing director of the UOC, Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, in a commentary for a story about religious confrontations after the provision of a tomos to OCU in the Morning on Inter program, according to the Information and Educational Department of the UOC.
“The more the state sometimes interferes in church life, the greater the trouble in society. Politicians create some kind of religion of their own, which they can govern, ”said Metropolitan Anthony.
The hierarch drew attention to the fact that the fact that Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople provided the “OCU” tomos aggravated the confrontation.
Religious expert Ruslan Bortnik also noted in his commentary that the planned visit of Patriarch Bartholomew could only aggravate the escalation of the conflict.
The business manager of the UOC said that the Church prays to the Lord for the granting of patience to parishioners and clergymen to survive this difficult time, and for the gift of intelligence to the authorities for the development of Ukrainian society.
