The head of the UOC in Canada (the Church of Constantinople), metropolitan Yuri (Kalischuk), said in the interview with the Canadian Kontakt Ukrainian TV channel that all three Lavras of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church should be “under the full control” of the OCU. This is reported by Religious Truth.

Also, a hierarch from Canada told how “the wealth from these monasteries and the Lavras is exported across the border to another state”.

“In fact, both the Kyiv-Pechersk and Pochaev Lavras are owned by the state of Ukraine, by the government of Ukraine. And the Moscow Church – they call it the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, but, according to the latest statements of the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, this is the Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine, this is not the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. Both of these lavras, and there is also the third one – Svyatogorsk, all of them are provided for the time being for the use of this Church in Ukraine.

We hope that, as the society develops, as the government instruction… everything will return under the full control of the Ukrainian people and, I believe, it will be under the control of the Orthodox Church in Ukraine”, said the metropolitan of the Phanar.
