The head of the Synodal Information and Educational Department of the UOC, metropolitan of Nizhyn and Prilutsk Kliment (Vecherya), in a discussion on the “UA: First” TV channel, explained the reason for the conflicts with the OCU by the fact that its activists, instead of building their own churches, are trying to seize the existing ones.

“Those who call themselves the SCU or OCU, or something else, they believe that in order to carry out their worship and ensure their religious beliefs, it is necessarily to take away someone else`s temple. Conflicts, as a rule, are not about forcing someone to be in one or another confession, but because someone does not want to take care of building their own chapel or temple, but thinks that it is easier to get the one that is ready”, – lord Climent explained the reason for the conflicts.

He said that mostly the parishes of the UOC built their churches on their own, therefore, the newly formed parishes of various religious organizations should do the same. “It’s strange why such a position is rejected, if there is a community, if there is a newly formed one, which was not presented in this village, let them build a temple, as most of our communities did, then there would be no conflicts”, summed up the hierarch of the UOC.
