According to the bill of the Ministry for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories “On the State Policy of the Transition Period”, the Ukrainian Orthodox Church will have to state in official documents that it is a subsidiary of the Russian Orthodox Church.
Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories Alexei Reznikov said this in an interview to LB.ua.
“We believe that all religious communities should be subject to the regulation of Ukrainian law. It should be unified for everyone. If you do not recognize Ukrainian jurisdiction, then you will need to indicate who your immediate leader is. Just honestly, for a comfortable and safe existence, tell me who your boss is … Our task is to ensure that no one is infringed on their right to freedom of religion. This right is guaranteed by our Constitution. It is your right to go to this or that temple or synagogue,” the Deputy Prime Minister noted.
