The sense of national solidarity will prevent Phanar from subjugating the Orthodox world, experts say

The issue of the Orthodox diaspora is the “stumbling block” that will sooner or later undermine the Phanar’s intentions to subjugate the Orthodox world, writes Telegram-channel “Pravblog”.

The fact is that many Local Churches are unlikely to agree to transfer the right to serve their compatriots in scattering to the Patriarchate of Constantinople.

In a sense, the natural sense of patriotism and national solidarity will become an automatic “fuse” against the Phanar’s ambitions to rule the entire Orthodox world. From the Phanar, of course, accusations of ethnophyletism, nationalism and fundamentalism will pour down. However, overcoming the national instinct, which still lives in many countries of Eastern Europe, is unlikely to be within his power in the coming years, experts say.

In this context, the issue of the diaspora is also an obstacle to the recognition of the OCU by those Churches that have a significant number of foreign parishes. To recognize the OCU means for them to recognize the Phanar’s right to alienate their own parishes abroad. Well, or give an additional reason for Phanar to demand the transfer of such parishes under his control.

In their opinion, this is a good diplomatic argument in dealing with those who, perhaps, hesitate regarding the “Ukrainian question”. Or with those who are under pressure from Constantinople and the US State Department.
