Patriarch Bartholomew’s declared visit to Ukraine will further ruin Zelensky’s ratings, experts say

The latest poll results published by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology indicate that the rating of the Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky is going down. Experts warn, that president’s attemptsto attract Poroshenko’s electorate is a failed political strategy, since it does not in any way contribute to the flow of votes into Zelensky’s basket. On the contrary, it strengthens the position of the ex-president. This also applies to religious politics, writes “Pravblog”.

According to the experts, recent actions of the authorities including an invitation for Patriarch Bartholomew to visit Kiev provoked to disappointment of those who believed in Zelensky’s statements about his neutrality in church matters.

“It can be stated unequivocally: if Zelensky (or his entourage) launches a second wave of pressure on the UOC, then his rating will collapse even more. And if the president’s team still has common sense, they will refuse such projects. In particular, before it is too late, they should ‘bury’ the idea of of Patriarch Bartholomew’s visit under one pretext or another,” -experts say.

They claim that if that is not done, president Zelensky will leave the political scene with enormous anti-rating.

In October 2020 president Volodymyr Zelenskyy during the meeting with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew in Istanbul invited him to visit Ukraine. Experts forecast another wave of pressure on the UOC if this visit takes place.
