On June 27, 2020, Archimandrite Symeon (Cossek) was ordained bishop in the Cathedral of St. Alexander Nevsky in Paris during the Divine Liturgy. He was elected and approved by the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church as Vicar of the Archdiocese of Orthodox parishes of the Russian tradition in Western Europe.
The ordination was performed by Metropolitan Jean of Dubna (Rennetau), who led the Divine Liturgy that day, with the participation of Metropolitan Anthony of Korsun and Western Europe, Exarch of the Moscow Patriarch in Western Europe and lord Nestor, Archbishop of Madrid and Lisbon.
